And the whole restaurant becomes a big dance floor. 2) Operations and Service plan In this restaurant you find good service but slow seating perhaps its quick table rotation, you may have to wait in long lines that is why they recommend to make reservations; Mi Luna is not a good place for kids but is very good for groups of people because of its fast serving to tables. Type of service is American style where food is cooked and portioned in the place’s kitchen and carried to the tables by waiters but also they use French style for paella because it is cooked tableside in front of the guest’s eyes. This French style has some advantages like elegant, personalized service; is entertaining and fun; and high average check. Disadvantages that are highly trained staff required; more dining room space is needed to provide for the wide aisles required to move preparation cars or gueridon to tables; table turnover lower, high menu prices; higher capital costs incurred because of extensive amount of service and preparation equipment required. 3) Menu Selection and variety Mi Luna emphasizes a wide variety of traditional Spanish cuisine. Condole vs. Console

Condole vs. Console Condole vs. Console Condole vs. Console By Maeve Maddox A reader has asked for clarification regarding the use of the verbs condole and console. In searching for illustrations of current usage, I find that confusion between the words is more common in the writing of non-native English speakers, although native speakers do err with this pair. Both verbs refer to expressions of sympathy and comfort. The corresponding nouns are condolence (most often in the plural) and consolation. â€Å"To condole† is â€Å"to grieve with; to express sympathy with another in his affliction.† Condole is usually followed by with: We condoled with our friends over the loss of their parents. The airline official condoled with the relatives of the crash victims. Condole is used transitively when the object is death, as in formal expressions of sympathy: Politicians unite to  condole the death of  APJ Abdul Kalam. The US State Department yesterday released a press statement to condole the death of Tulku Tenzin Delek Rinpoche. Condole may also be used in an absolute sense: The hall was filled with hundreds of mourners who had come to condole. It seemed the entire village was there to condole. â€Å"To console† is â€Å"to comfort in mental distress or depression; to alleviate the sorrow of (someone).† Console is always transitive: How do I  console  a friend who just lost his brother in a tragic  accident?   Prince Harry Reunites with His Former Teacher Who Consoled Him After His Mother Died Here are some examples of the misuse of condole and console, with corrections: INCORRECT: At a funeral you are greeted by many people that wish to console with you and it can be difficult to thank all those who were there for you throughout your difficult time. CORRECT : At a funeral you are greeted by many people who wish to console you and it can be difficult to thank all those who were there for you throughout your difficult time. Console is transitive. It is not followed by a prepositional phrase like â€Å"with you.† INCORRECT: I just really wanted to come here, talk to the family and  condole the family, let them know there are other people out here worrying about them. CORRECT : I just really wanted to come here, talk to the family and  console the family, let them know there are other people out here worrying about them. One â€Å"condoles a death,† but â€Å"consoles the family.† INCORRECT: He said that no amount material assistance could undo the loss of life, however, it was a gesture to console with the families of the victims. CORRECT : He said that no amount material assistance could undo the loss of life, however, it was a gesture to condole with the families of the victims. â€Å"Console the families† would also be correct. INCORRECT: At this sad moment, we pray that his bereaved family gets the strength to console with the irreparable loss they are facing. Neither condole nor console works in this sentence. The solution is to change console to another word altogether: CORRECT: At this sad moment, we pray that his bereaved family gets the strength to cope with the irreparable loss they are facing. cope: deal competently with a situation. IKEA Challenges and HR Solutions Case Study Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1750 words

IKEA Challenges and HR Solutions - Case Study Example Regardless, the company still faces the problem of its branding professionals being obsessed with the strong brand image, which has consistently developed for almost four decades while underrating the real creators of brand competitiveness. Brand-internalisation is the primary issue facing IKEA as it expands to other international markets where different cultures exist. The company faces the problem of recreating its brand identity based on the prevailing market conditions in different economies around the world. Its managers have been basically transferring its identities from Sweden to various stores which are under its brand in other countries, with fairly positive outcomes being registered in Europe while Asia creates mixed outcomes (Vizard, 2014). The attempt by its managers to advance the company’s sense making of the value of its products, reinterpreting and reactivating the brand to reflect the cultural needs of foreign markets has been largely missing at IKEA’s foreign excursions. As such, the process of brand-activating can be construed as a serious divide in the process of creating the common sense, hence requiring extra attention by an equally effective human resources management. Lack of a proper plan for brand internalization has resulted in IKEA being incapable of strengthening its brand in foreign markets for higher sales, hence the problem of heavy duties, especially in Asian markets (Tarnovskaya, & de Chernatony, 2011). In light of this, IKEA faces other brand challenges in culturally diverse.

DRUGS AND ADDICTION ASSIGNMENT Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

DRUGS AND ADDICTION ASSIGNMENT - Essay Example Manifestly, the quality of the social setting influences a person’s varieties. Thus, it accentuates the prominence of social factors for enhancing behaviors and addictions. The work provides explanation people’s perceptions and main motives that facilitate abuse of specific drugs based on sociological theories. Specific areas of interests include the symbolic interactionism, structural functional and conflict forces (Brent & Lewis 2013). Besides, genetic dynamics influence individuals worth and societys reactions. Structural functionalism Interprets society as a complex system whose components work together to stimulate stability and solidarity. Thus, positive or negative individuals’ appeals are products of order ultimate provisions or the absence respectively. Consequently, drug abuse is a reaction to the weak or deteriorating standards in the American society. Significant modernization presents complex structures and prompt social variations. In turn, shared morals and norms become indefinite and indistinguishable. To a wider context, the situation causes social instability, which is responsible for inconsistencies, and social strains that increase drug abuse. Likewise, contradiction between the American Government agencies, health care providers, and advertisers promotes drug use among citizens. For instance, the health care warn about dangers associated with the drugs, promoters venerate the use of drugs and the government subsidizes prices of other substances like tobacco and alcohol industries. Whether it is controlled substance or legal products, the drugs still exist for human consumption. In addition, culture fosters drug use for example toasting champagne with groom and bride. Conclusively, substance abuse results from lack of a strong links between the society and individuals. Social challenges also arise from individual’s interaction with peers. The symbolic interactionist

Includes recommendations for banking in China Essay Example for Free

Includes recommendations for banking in China Essay The bank is progressively upgrading its services and is attempting to match the best practices in the banking industry. This is evident from its Factoring programme for businesses. This enables business people to assign receivables to Bank of China and in turn they are provided with all facilities for collection, finance of trade, risk control and ledger sales management. In addition there is easy finance on production of delivery of goods, provision of capital at low cost, protection of credit to the seller despite any financial difficulty of the buyer, thus in some cases it will be the buyer also who will be benefiting along with the seller in case Factoring is undertaken. The Factoring services include export and import factoring as well export and domestic invoice discounting and domestic full factoring. Being the first and the largest factoring services provider in China’s banking sector, it has build extensive experience in this field and therefore will provide assured services. (Factoring, 2006). BOC has developed partnerships with large state held Chinese corporations such as the oil and petroleum company China National Petroleum Corporation. This will add value to its global business and create partnerships for growth. Security and risk management in Bank of China is dependent on its corporate governance policy. This is determined and controlled by the board of directors which oversees the overall operation and administration. As per standard norms of banks, committees are appointed to supervise various banking functions which include those for strategic planning, audit, risk management, personnel and remuneration and transaction controls. (Governance, 2006). The various stake holders in the bank include apart from the state government, the share holders, a board of directors, in which the posts of Chairman and President are said to be separate, a board o f supervisors and senior management. (Governance, 2006). The large quantum of non performing assets and a state control however does not immediately contribute to confidence in this area. The Bank is prone to provide for areas which are determined by the Central government and to that extent its policies are not ruled by the needs of ensuring profitability and efficiency. The picture in China is however continuously changing and greater progress in this sphere is anticipated in the future. HSBC exploits it legacy of banking in China to effect as it has been present in the Middle Kingdom since 1865. (HSBC China, 2006). The Bank provides the customers the advantage of being a single banker for domestic as well as foreign banking services thereby providing it convenience, speed, security and assurance. (HSBC China, 2006). HSBC is seen to operate at an entirely different level. The products, services and processes for the customers have been well established by the bank. It is now marketing these facilities to provide growth both in the personal and business banking sectors. Modern banking as practiced by HSBC is not only creating facilities such as automated teller and cash machines but actually recognizing the benefits of customers using these. This leads banks as HSBC to sponsor various gift schemes for users who use cash machines or pay their bills online. This indicates that services are not mere conveniences but offers which enable the bank to actually increase its efficiency. Then there are services such as money managers for the business, high interest deposit bonds, money market account and clients deposit account which enables pooling of money in a single account. HSBC also manages pensions of employers for a business as well for individuals. For business there are other factilities that are being provided such as business internet banking as well as HSBCnet which provides larger companies with a complete range of services on the internet, invoice finance, Against the internal growth outlook of Bank of China, HSBC is seeking more challenges externally as the Worlds local bank and is investing in many developing countries such as Vietnam, Saudi Arabia and even Iraq. (Schuman, 2006). The low penetration of modern banking systems services for example credit cards in China which for a 1. 3 billion population has only 10 million card holders has promised greater possibility and scope for banks such as HSBC. While HSBC sees itself as the Worlds local bank, the BOC wants to seek primacy in Chinese banking by providing assistance in doing business globally. Thus there is a difference in the focus of both the banks. This also underlines an essential difference in the states of the Chinese banking industry vis a vis global banking conglomerates as HSBC. The Chinese banking industry is still in its nascence and thus sees itself as a provider of financial services to its domestic clientele be it personal or corporate to operate internationally. On the other hand HSBC sees itself as a bank for global banking regardless of the nationality of its clients. The Bank of China will have to face these challenges in the future in a very cohesive manner. Bank of China is well established domestically as well as globally. It can conduct sustained operations as it has adequate experience and exposure to varied political, economic and financial regimes. The global orientation of the bank is particularly favorable for its sustained growth and expansion in the future. It can thus provide the lead to other banks in China.

Comparing Conrads The Secret Sharer and Heart of Darkness :: Comparison Compare Contrast Essays

Similarities in Conrad's The Secret Sharer and Heart of Darkness Joseph Conrad's books, The Secret Sharer and Heart of Darkness, both deal with each of our "dark selves". These books also have similarities which are overwhelming. In describing the true inner self of humans, Conrad used many symbols which have become apparent in many of his novels. Conrad uses the same or very similar objects in many of his works. Joseph Conrad wrote Heart of Darkness in 1899 to recount his voyages in the Congo. Conrad hid most of his meaning in his words using a form of writing known as "stream of consciousness". This made it difficult for people to find the true meaning of his work. After about ten years, Conrad realized that he would have to get his point across in an easier to understand book. This book was The Secret Sharer. Both of these books include the hero wanting to meet or developing a fascination for a truly evil character. In Heart of Darkness, Marlow is very eager to meet Kurtz. Marlow is so eager, in fact, that he eventually starts to panic when he thinks he will never meet him. Marlow realizes that Kurtz is a very evil person, but this does not stop him from wanting to meet this incredibly remarkable person. In The Secret Sharer the Captain saves a murderer from almost certain death without knowing what the man has done. Later, The Captain has a discussion with the man and finds out his name is Leggatt. Leggatt tells his story and the Captain becomes more enthralled with Leggatt ever so more. When Leggatt tells the Captain he has committed a murder, the Captain does not throw him overboard. Instead, the Captain harbors this criminal because he feels a connection with Leggatt that he has never felt before. In both stories the hero identifies with his evil counterpart to the point that they actually become one in their own minds. Conrad wanted to show the evil that exists within all of us. The bulk of Conrad's stories deal with sea voyages because of his extensive sailing as a young man. The ship in his writing can be thought of as symbolizing the journey through life, a vessel of sorts.

Innovation and Reliance

Managing is the term which is connected with the way to handle things and innovation is the term which reflects meaning as thinking new ideas for development. Philip E. Reassured and Cabal Z. Quad(2014) said that solving problems and challenges of enterprises and people with new Ideas Is Innovation. Joe Tied and John Absent (De. 4) also mentioned Innovation as the driven ability of a person to connect things together and take advantage of the opportunity available. Innovations in a business are not only for solving problems, it has a broad sector.Innovation can be related to product innovation, process innovation, position innovation or the innovation related to paradigm. These 4 innovation types are known as ops of innovation. ops Model: John Peasant and Joe Tied have developed this ops model and also given the way to study (2009, p. 1 5) has defined these as: Product innovation: Product innovation is the innovation related to product and service which makes influence on people and market. Process innovation: Process innovation is the innovation related to the way and process how products and services are created or delivered.Position innovation: Position innovation is the term which defines the modification in perception of a company's work sector, e. G. Microsoft is heading to change its work position to Mobile First and Cloud First from Product and services company. Paradigm innovation: Paradigm innovation is related with the mental perceptions of companies or organizations towards people. How companies analyze people need and wants. Innovation is the part of life. Each of us is capable to do innovation but what type of innovation we are looking for. It depends on the need, mentality, ability, wants and direction given by circumstances. There are many of examples of innovation we have seen in our life. Internet being a part of our life, nobody thought that a person can talk to someone face to face even he is thousands of kilometers far. It is a great innovat ion. There are many of examples like this. Microsoft, Apple, Google, TTS, Amazon and a lot more are examples of the companies which are well known of their innovative ideas. Today I am going to talk about the company named ‘Reliance'. Reliance is the company which is working in field of communication, energy, Textiles, infrastructure, petrochemical etc.Paradigm Position Product Process Reliance is the company founded by Mr.. Diarrhea H. Mambas (1932-2002) in INDIA with an idea of Textiles business in late seventies. But it did not stop on the sector of textiles. With the help of its team, Reliance started to make new innovative ideas and irked on strategy to cover energy products which were the base of development, even now too and of course will be in future as well. They worked in polyester, fiber intermediates, plastics, petrochemicals, petroleum refining and oil and gas. With the help of this strategy, now Reliance is the largest private sector company of INDIA under the gu idance of its chairman Mr.. Muses Mambas. Reliance website shows what innovative works it has done in years and how it has been one of the most innovative companies. Things which are impressive are as: Reliance had done impossible task. Jamaican, a city in INDIA was a barren land, Agriculture was not Seibel there but Reliance teams' hard work and dedication made it possible and now mangoes grown in that area are famous. It's the innovation which is admirable path of win from lose and mistakes. The example of it is Jangler's craft centre, which was made after capturing the mistakes done by employees in Reliance. Now it's the world's largest craft centre and it has already trained 1, 50,000 workmen and still going on. Using Waste as resources, seems amazing? Yes, Reliance is No. L Company of polyester production in world and with the waste of that production it has setup a new business of filling and stuffing. That is the innovation. Business week (2014) has marked Reliance logistic pr ivate limited as integrated logistic services provider.Reliance offers transport of near about every product liquid, gases, solid products. IQ-We have already seen Reliance as innovative company with strengths like stability, Broad vision, Quick processing, Ability and of course success rate. Actually Reliance has the power to challenge the topmost companies in the world. It is in communication, Energy, Production, Sales, construction and a lot more. Its strengths are: Stability: Reliance's biggest strength is its stability. It's developing with a stable rate from decades. Broad vision: By its broad vision, it has acquired a big part of world's market. Now Reliance is a global company. Grabbing opportunity: Reliance has the capability to grab the opportunity with new market strategies and product. Weakness:- Investment Limitations: Reliance has a lot of funds and its financially stable but for long term investments in compare to its competitors, it is lacking behind a little bit. To overcome this gap, company should find some new investors. At present, company is collecting most its funds through shares and public funds. Reliance can tie-up with other companies to work in different sectors for more investments and profits.Q-l don't see a lot of gaps in company's success but one the major gap where company has to work is to create new easier processes or adapt those new processes which are already been adapted by others. It is very important to walk with or ahead of world for getting success. Conclusion: It is clear; Reliance is one of those innovative companies which are making big impact on the way how people think about innovation. Company need to continue this success rate. For it, company should find omen more possibilities, might be in sports field or entertainment field like movies, T.V. Serials etc. Company's future depends on its stability and ability to think new ideas. Reliance is already working on new ideas continuously and also getting success in i t. Company has to continue this success rate. In my view, Reliance is on its Top-gear of success, it Just needs to do cover the gaps of renewal of products and adopt new technologies. With a very experienced and energetic staff, I believe company will do its best in future and will be one of the top companies in the world. References: Philip E. Reassured & Cabal Z.
